Hoje a Academia de Artes e Ciências televisivas anunciou os indicados ao prêmio Emmys Awards, maior prêmio da televisão estadunidense da temporada 2020-2021.
Após um ano difícil com o distanciamento, a televisão e (principalmente) o streaming ganharam um destaque enorme, com inúmeras produções sendo feitas remotamente, algumas produções que puderam que puderam voltar a gravar e conseguiram ser distribuídas ganharam novos horizontes, principalmente com a globalização na distribuição.
A cerimônia de indicação contou com a dupla de atores Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) e sua filha Jasmine Cephas Jones (Hamilton e Blindspotting).
The Crown e The Mandalorian foram as produções com maior número de indicações, com 24 cada, seguido de WandaVision com 23, The Handmaid’s Tale e Saturday Night Live com 21 cada, Ted Lasso com 20, Lovecraft Country e O Gambito da Rainha com 18 cada, e Mare of Easttown com 16.
Entre as produtoras, estúdios e plataformas a HBO Max liderou com 130 indicações totais, seguido da Netflix com 129, e completando o ranking a Disney+ com 71 e a NBC com 49.
